The Futures give colors back again to Bordeaux !

The tastings of the 2019 Futures (Primeurs) from Bordeaux, with the lockdown and absence of the 6.000 international buyers, were delayed in June. With this exceptional relocation, e-tastings and tastings start again. If the general atmosphere expected a price drop of 20%, we can already note a drop of between – 16% (Lafite) and – 33% (Palmer), compared to 2018. We can already confrim that the 2019 vintage will promise to be a great vintage.

« Si tu ne vas pas à Bordeaux, Bordeaux ira à toi ! » – VK

This Bordeaux marketing campaign began with intensity, and with confirmed interest in this vintage, in white as in red, and the successive outings at a sustained pace, with beautiful surprises every day. Most of the wines have a good balance and already give promise of a great vintage. In an unprecedented way, the red wines present themselves with a beautiful maturity and a great aromatic freshness, with a stylistic definition which is situated, at this stage, between 2015 and 2016 vintages. As for the white wines, they appear balanced, sapid , as in the case of the red wines, we marvel at the great length of the wines on the finish – which seems to be another characteristic of this 2019 vintage. The quantities are already exhausted for certain wines (Pontet Canet or Carruades de Lafite, for example). This campaign is, at this stage, probably one of the densest we have known in Bordeaux for the last decade, leaving buyers with less time than usual for reflection.
