The Bordeaux Wine School in China.
Starting this summer, the Bordeaux Wine School has visited seven cities in the South of China for training seminars. Importers, distributors, sales forces, sommeliers, hotel and catering professionals and journalists can attend the seminars at a cost of 300 Yuans (about €35), and in their own language. Chinese professional wine distributors may therefore get to know the basics of Bordeaux wine, which they often ignore (general information, the AOC system, the Bordeaux families of wine, the Bordeaux wine market, exams being optional….).
These training seminars are organised every year in some twenty Chinese cities and are a proven success. Thomas Julien, Consultant in Asia for CIVB, confirms: « we have even seen participants take a 3 hour flight to reach a city where a seminar was running ». To respond to the progress made by Chinese professionals, the contents of some seminars has been adapted in Peking, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Shenzhen.
